Australia is a country and largest island in the world, with famous cities, beaches, coral reefs, deserts, tropical rainforests, rocky mountains and a unique wildlife.
The country has coastlines on the northwest, west, and south west with the Indian Ocean, and on the east with the South Pacific Ocean. The Tasman Sea on the southeast separates it from New Zealand, while the Great Barrier Reef lies to the northeast. Papua New Guinea, East Timor and Indonesia separated from northern Australia by the Arafura Sea and the Timor Sea.
Australia has iconic natural tourist attractions, such as the Ayres Rock, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Fraser Island.

The tropical zone has two seasons, summer (wet) and winter (dry), while the temperate zone has all four seasons. Between December and February is summer for most of the country, and the wet season in the tropical north. The Australian winter from June to August is usually mild, with snow in the southern mountain regions and dry sunny days in the northern states.
