ORIENTATION
Cairns is located in the North of Queensland and just 2 hours flying from Brisbane. Cairns business district extends from the Esplanade on the seaside to Sheridan Street and is full of restaurants, bars and shops.
One of the principal tourist attractions in the region, the Great Barrier Reef, is a short boat trip away from the city centre and the cruises leave from the Reef Fleet Terminal. The Daintree Rainforest, one of the best preserved in the world is two hours driving from Cairns.
The most important Cairns beaches are to be found on the northern part of the city. Offshore from Cairns there are some interesting islands, such as Green Island, Fitzroy Island and Frankland Islands.

Cairns has a tropical climate, with distinct wet (November-May) and dry (June-October) seasons.
HOW TO GET THERE
Cairns International Airport is located 6km (3.7 miles) north of the city centre.
