Sydney is the largest and most cosmopolitan city in Australia. This beautiful city is bustling with history, culture, nature, art, design, fashion and cuisine. On top of that, its excellent location makes the pleasure of sun and surf lovers, with miles of ocean shores and sandy beaches. The city is also home to the famous and iconic Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

These days, it’s a regular on all of those “top 10 places to live in the world” and “most expensive cities in the world” lists.

The world-class cuisine

A sophisticated city with a relaxed atmosphere

ORIENTATION

The Harbour Bridge and the Opera House are to be found on Port Jackson, which is the touristy area of the city. The Central Business District starts on the southern end of the harbour. Across the bridge, after passing the northern suburbs, are located the Northern Beaches, such as Palm Beach. South of the city centre are the waterfront suburbs of Vaucluse, Rose Bay, and Double Bay. To the southeast are situated the trendy neighbourhoods of Paddington, Darlinghurst, and Surry Hills. Further east you'll find the well-known beaches of Bondi, Coogee, Bronte and Clovelly.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

This city is quite pleasant to visit all through the year.

From September to February it is the best time to enjoy outdoor activities and the beaches.

HOW TO GET THERE

Sydney Airport is located on the northern shore of Botany Bay.

The CityRail Airport Link leaves every 10 minutes to the Central Station. Kingsford Smith operates a bus connecting the airport and central Sydney hotels. There are also taxis available from outside the terminals.

GETTING AROUND

Public Transport

Sydney's complete and efficient transit system incorporates bus, ferry and rail services.

Taxis

Taxis are a convenient way to get around Sydney, mostly late at night.

SHOPPING

Shoppers will want to make a walk along Oxford Street in Paddington a priority, as there’s a wealth of boutiques between Victoria Street and Jersey Road.

Paddington Markets is an institution -- a cornucopia of stalls sell everything from organic cotton tees to pop art imagery to the latest fashion. As well as being a fantastic platform for creative types to show off their art, it provides an opportunity to gawp at an idiosyncratic crowd.
