Lithuania is a Baltic country in Europe. In the west it is bordered by the Baltic Sea coastline and is delimited by Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east, Poland to the southwest, and Russia to the west. This country has a rich and long history - it was in the middle ages a gigantic feudal country extending from the Baltic to the Black sea.
Its capital, Vilnius, is an extremely small place with astonishing contrasts - peculiar obscure courtyards, unconventional artist community, splendid arts and beautiful baroque. Its natural and historical treasures - forests, lakes, the magical Curonian Spit in Western Lithuania, the Hill of Crosses and a Soviet sculpture park, make this country something really worth visiting.
