Quebec is a city full of culture and history, combining the best of the North American customs with the best of the European traditions. Quebec City lies on the Saint Lawrence River, on the southeast of the province of Quebec, and is the second-oldest existing European settlement in Canada.

REASONS TO GO

Old Québec, North America's unique walled city

Great skiing sights only 30 minutes away

Amazing food influenced by the French culture

ORIENTATION

The most important attractions are located in the Old Town (Vieux-Québec), the walled city. The surrounding neighbourhoods of Haute-Ville and Basse-Ville have also many interesting sights and are connected by Funicular or by one of the many staircases. The city centre is located west of the old town.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The weather is more pleasant between May and October. Summers are generally quite wet and winters are very rigorous. Late spring and early autumn are probably the best time to visit.

HOW TO GET THERE

By plane

Jean Lesage International Airport is about 30 minutes from the city centre and the best way to get there is by taxi.

GETTING AROUND

On foot

The Old Town is perfect to visit on foot, where everything is within walking distance and quite compact.

To go between Upper Town and Lower Town, you can walk or use the Funicular to go between the upper and lower parts of the Old Town. It’s also possible, from April to October to use the bike paths.

Public Transportation

Quebec's public transportation system includes buses and express shuttles that cover the entire city.
