Prince's Island is the smallest island of the archipelago of Sao Tome and Principe. The capital is San Antonio with an area of 142 km ² and has a population of about 6,000 inhabitants.
The island was discovered by the Portuguese on 17 January 1471 and named St. Anthony. In 1502 he became donee under the name of the island of Principe. He became a Crown Colony in 1573 and was occupied by the Dutch from August to October 1598. In 1753 he joined St. Thomas to form the colony of Sao Tome and Principe.

WHEN TO GO
Situated next to Ecuador, Sao Tome has average temperatures ranging between 22 and 30 degrees centigrade. The temperature varies with altitude (2024 meters at the peak of St. Thomas) and rainfall, and feature a high density of moisture, often exceeding 75 percent. The year is characterized by two seasons: The rainy season (October to May), with high temperatures and tropical storms and "Gravana" (June to September), more gently, but usually covered with sky.
HOW TO GET THERE
First you need to arrive by plane to Sao Tome, semalmente from Lisbon (5 hour flight with TAP) and Luanda (TAAG), four times a week from Libreville, Gabon (Air Sao Tome and Principe); and inter-island four times a week (Air Sao Tome and Principe). There are travel packages but they are not cheap.
Then you can go back by plane since there are almost daily flights to the island of Principe Air São Tomé with the cost is about $ 135 per person or you can choose to make the trip by jeep to the north of Sao Tome and after by boat.
GETTING AROUND
The state of the roads is deplorable and to desocar only by jeep. The roads are very poor, and are on dirt tracks or mountain trails.
